Karen Alonardo, Founder and CEO, MSEM
With 17 years in a number of key leadership and entrepreneurial positions at Fortune 500 and private start-up companies, Karen has a successful track record with high growth companies like Electronic Arts and Critical Path. During this time, Karen managed global hi-tech Information Technology organizations with a drive towards innovation, product development and strategic vision.
Over the last several years, her domain expertise has been at the intersection of Energy Efficiency / Carbon Management, Sustainability and Green IT with an emphasis on methodology and global energy policy implications surrounding energy, water, waste and carbon issues. Since founding CSRware in 2006, Karen has advocated the need for Enterprise environmental financial visibility, measuring what you manage, and actions necessary to reduce energy costs and abate greenhouse gas emissions. To continue CSRware's forward thinking approach, Karen currently works directly with industry leaders, engages alliance partners and is active with customers to define corporate and product requirements for the CSRware product team. Karen's direct customer facing interaction allows continuous refinement to positioning, product development, reducing customer Op Ex, illuminating ROI and problems of carbon abatement and ways to prepare for future carbon trading markets.
To integrate environmental, technology and business management expertise into a clean technology business, Karen received her Master’s in Science in Environmental Management (MSEM) from the University of San Francisco with a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University.
Mark Thiele, Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer
Mark is responsible for CSRware’s technology strategy and direction. He will also lead collaboration efforts with customers, partners, and industry groups. Mark joined CSRware in 2009. Prior to joining CSRware he was Director of Business Operations for R&D at VMware. He is also President and Founder of Data Center Pulse, a not for profit group focused on improving efficiency in the data center. Mark has over 20 years of experience in IT infrastructure and has been a leader in efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of IT. He is an active member of Infrastructure 2.0, has participated in Green Grid activities and been a speaker at industry events on topics ranging from the future of data centers to carbon reporting.
Dave Jarrat, Vice President of Marketing, MBA
Mr. Jarrat is a results driven marketing executive with a strong track record of success opening markets and growing revenues for startup and established CleanTech and IT businesses. He has served as a VP and Director of Marketing for many early-stage companies, guiding the development and execution of their go-to-market strategies. He helped grow Portera, a pioneer in enterprise software-as-a-service (SaaS), from pre-product to $20M+ in sales across 37 countries, forging appreciation for the SaaS model among industry analysts, press and customers. He has also developed product marketing strategies and sales tools for established companies, including Hewlett-Packard, MicroFocus, Blue Coat, ProofPoint, Focus Enhancements, Green Plum and Calyx Software. He brings deep expertise in marketing strategy, corporate/product positioning, lead generation, sales tools and channel development across a broad range of industries.
He is an accomplished entrepreneur in technology, marketing and environmental services and holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley and a bachelors of Environmental Science, Economics & Politics from Claremont McKenna College.
Thomas Lau,
Vice President of Sales
Tom has over 16 years of experience successfully selling
technology solutions. His background includes closing
multi million dollar contracts for industry leading
companies such as Ascend Communications, Inktomi and
Sourcefire. As the first sales person for the search
solutions group at Inktomi, Tom established Inktomi
as the SaaS partner for knowledge management, content
delivery and acceleration and B2B web based shopping
for customers such as Forbes Magazine, HSBC Bank, Lycos,
Knight Ridder and Pac Bell/SBC.
He brings a proven
track record for exceeding quotas, developing productive
client relationships and building high performance sales
teams. Tom has a B.A degree in Business Administration
from San Francisco State University
Torben Mottes, VP of Product Management
Torben brings over fifteen years of experience in product management and product marketing. His background brings in-depth SaaS knowledge, user research, direct development of several product lines with an emphasis on product strategy. At Ringcentral, Yoomba, NetSuite, Lycos Europe and Yahoo, Torben was instrumental in defining and managing efforts to define requirements, product positioning and management of teams to launch of next-generation products.
He has an extensive
background at start-ups and large enterprise companies.
Torben attended the University of California, Berkeley,
Haas School of Business where his focus was on technology
and marketing.
Yann Lejas, Vice President Technical Sales, MSEE
Yann brings extensive
experience in software engineering. Most recently Yann
served as Sr. Director Sales Engineering for Global
IP Solutions, where he was responsible for worldwide
technical sales and managed the customer engineering
team. Prior to that, Yann participated in the launch
of the company's operations in Asia, where he held the
position of Director Customer Engineering, Asia Pacific.
Before joining Global IP Solutions, Yann was a software
engineer at Scientific Learning.
Yann holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a Master’s
degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from ENSEA
in France.
John Collins, VP of Business Development and Strategic Alliances
Visionary business development executive with experience delivering sizable sales growth across a wide range of public, private, and start-up companies including a 3-time Inc. 500 fastest growing private company. Propel revenue growth via strategic alliances and new product initiatives. Drive continuous improvement in processes; generating repeatable sales, marketing, and product development success. Skills include executive level sales, Fortune 500 client base, product distribution, and public relations.

Kari Birdseye, Vice President Sustainability, MSEM
Kari Birdseye is an environmental and sustainability professional with twenty years of management experience and has spent more than a decade devoted to corporate environmental management. She has created and managed communications on sustainability, government policy, and biotechnology strategies for Fortune customers. She served as a high-profile spokesperson for the California wine industry while developing and implementing the California Code of Sustainable Wine Growing Practices program.
Kari has a Master’s of Science in Environmental Management (MSEM) from University of San Francisco and a BA degree in Journalism from San Francisco State University.
